Trips and Trip Report

June 6, 2012
Rick

We have an Empire Mica trip scheduled for Friday, June 22. As I said before this is a natural wreck and a casualty of a German U boat during WW II. For a look into the history and the sinking of the Empire Mica check out this link.

We will do a twelve hour three tank dive with two dives on the Mica then a dive on the way back in. Saturday we have a three tank eight hour offshore trip to the best wrecks of Panama City and Sunday will be a two tank six hour dive. The all inclusive price for this trip is $769 per person with double occupancy. A $25 deposit will reserve your spot on this exciting trip.

The trips just seem to get better every time we go out this year. This past weekend, June 1-3 we brought a group of twelve divers over to Florida to get wet. The conditions at Vortex Spring on Friday were about the same as they’ve been all year. The water is crystal clear but once divers start kicking up the algae it deteriorates quickly. Our group of four Open Water students did very well with their skills and there was plenty of time for sight seeing.

Saturday we made our first dive on the Red Sea and had about 35ft. of visibility. Seas were calm and there were only sixteen divers on the Island Diver. The second dive was on the Strength and the visibility was about 30ft. Almost everyone got a chance to see a large Goliath Grouper. Sunday the boat was a little more crowded with 26 divers. The Black Bart was our first dive and the visibility was 45ft. Once again we watched the deckhand tie off into the wheelhouse. The second dive was on Bridge Span 14 and two large Goliath Groupers hung with us the entire dive. They were moving into view before retreating into the haze and waiting a few minutes before returning. We have four new certified divers: Lance, Gavin and Sadie Failla and Danielle Pelas.Congrats! Everyone did great.

Sincerely,

Rick Sutton
